Louisiana House Democratic Caucus Announces Leadership Transition
Baton Rouge, LA – The Louisiana House Democratic Caucus today announced a leadership
transition as Representative Matthew Willard resigned from the role of Caucus Chair following
his successful bid for New Orleans City Council at Large. Representative Kyle Green has been
elected to serve as the new Chair and will fulfill the remainder of the current leadership term.
“It has been an honor to serve both in the Louisiana Legislature and as Chairman of the House
Democratic Caucus,” said Rep. Matthew Willard. “I am deeply proud of the progress we have
made together and the work we have done to support working families and small businesses
across this state. As I transition into my new role, I look forward to continuing that work
alongside my colleagues to advance the values we share and the future our people deserve.”
The Caucus extends its deep appreciation to Councilman at Large-elect Willard for his
dedicated leadership, steadfast commitment, and continued advocacy on behalf of Louisiana’s
citizens. During his tenure, he worked to amplify the voices of communities across the state,
champion equitable policy solutions, and strengthen the Caucus’s ability to serve Louisianans.
“I am honored to serve as Chair of the House Democratic Caucus and grateful for the trust my
colleagues have placed in me,” said Chairman Green “We are committed to moving Louisiana
forward–expanding opportunity, uplifting families, and protecting the rights and dignity of every
person in our state. I look forward to working side-by-side with our members to continue building
a more equitable and prosperous future for all Louisianans.”
With this transition, the Caucus remains unified in its mission. Together, House Democrats will
continue to champion policies that invest in working families, strengthen communities, and
expand opportunity across Louisiana.
