Louisiana House Democratic Caucus Statement on the Passing of Senator Larry Selders

BATON ROUGE, La.- The Louisiana House Democratic Caucus is heartbroken by the passing of our colleague and friend, Larry Selders.

Senator Selders exemplified people-first leadership. He had a genuine love for others and an extraordinary ability to cultivate community and make everyone around him feel accepted and empowered. He believed in treating every person with dignity and respect, and he carried that spirit with him wherever he went.

As a community leader and public servant, Senator Selders held many distinguished titles throughout his life. Yet the title he cherished most was husband to his devoted wife, Kendra, and father to his two beloved sons, LJ and Luke. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and they remained the center of his world.

To many members of our caucus, he was more than a colleague—he was a brother, a trusted friend, and a role model whose leadership was rooted in compassion and service.

We lift Senator Selders, Kendra, LJ, Luke, and all who loved him in our prayers during this difficult time. His legacy of joy, service, kindness, and unwavering commitment to others will continue to inspire us, and he will be deeply missed.
